Background/Purposes

The importance of performing safe and precise hepatobiliary and pancreatic (HBP) surgery has been increasingly recognized, especially as global communication among international HBP surgeons becomes more seamless. The Japanese Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery (JSHBPS) has been committed to advancing knowledge of practical surgical anatomy and operative techniques, with the aim of enhancing patient care and surgical education.

In this context, we annually host an international webinar to provide a platform for sharing and discussing expertise and experiences on how to safely and accurately perform advanced HBP surgical procedures. This webinar also serves as a valuable opportunity—particularly for young HBP surgeons—to receive educational guidance and technical advice from leading international experts in the field.

Contents

The theme of this year’s webinar is 'Precision Anatomy for Biliary Diseases – From Cholecystitis to Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma.’ International HBP experts will share their knowledge and insights on surgical anatomy and operative approaches through presentations and surgical videos, highlighting key anatomical pitfalls and practical surgical tips.

■Session 1
“Surgical Approaches Based on Precision Anatomy for Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma”

Oral presentations will focus on the surgical anatomy and approaches for perihilar cholangiocarcinoma, including discussions on the feasibility of minimally invasive surgery (MIS).

■Session 2
“Surgical Approaches Based on Precision Anatomy for Acute Cholecystitis”

Oral presentations will focus on the surgical anatomy and safe approaches for acute cholecystitis, emphasizing key anatomical tips, common pitfalls, and the recent innovations in intraoperative navigation.
